An Interview With the Fastlife Girls
There's so much more that happens in our life, than just the racing. I though this week we'd ask the kids what their perspective is! So here you go!
A Chat with Ryann-Age 11
What is it like to be a race car drivers' daughter?
It's cool, fun to watch and learn about racing.
Is there anything you don't like about it?
No, I think it's pretty fun. I liked it when my Dad won in Texas both races. I thought that was really fun and really cool.
What is one thing you've learned about racing while supporting your dad?
The brakes stop the car! Yeah...(laughing) that's what I know.
What is one thing you'd like to see in the Fastlife show?
I like all the interviews and stuff-just I don't like doing them.
What is your dad's best quality that helps him be a great race car driver?
He just does it. He doesn't really think that much about it. Like, he thinks about it, he just kind of does it.
Some questions for Haylee-Age 16
What is it like to be a race car driver's daughter?
It's very exciting, there's lots of action that comes with it. I like the fast moving nature of it. My dad and I are very similar in many ways. We like the fast moving sports. It's fun to watch my dad race because our sports are very similar even though they are totally different in some ways.
What is similar to your sport?
I ski race, so even though he's going like 180 and I'm going 60-70mph, there are similar tactics to the courses such as the apex of the turn and the spots of the turn. It's a very similar strategy to how you race a downhill course.
What new thing have you learned while supporting your dad's racing?
I enjoy watching how the pit crew works. Just seeing what goes into working on the car and how many different parts and objects they use to make the car go as fast as it can go and be legal for the series. It's interesting to see how fast they fix the car. If you put it into real life, if someone crashed their car or had a problem with their car, it could take up to a month to fix it. With the racing team, it usually only takes a couple minutes to fix it.
What do you dislike about being the daughter of a race car driver?
Sometimes it's stressful with all the craziness and traveling that goes into it. Dad travels a lot and sometimes my mom is gone too so it's stressful. I like it when my parents are home.
What is the favorite place you've traveled to with racing and why?
My favorite place is Wisconsin and Road America. We stayed at a pretty cool place with a lake so you could swim and hang out there. The track was cool and my dad had a big win there so it was exciting.
And of course, we can't forget Paige-Age 20
What is it like to be a race car driver's daugher?
You are immediately cooler than everyone else. It's not really that, it's just a great conversation starter though. Being shy, it's great to have something to talk about that's cool. People love to hear about stuff like this. They are immediately more curious after they find out your dad's a race car driver.
Is there any downside to it?
I don't know, not really. It's an exciting sport to watch and you get to travel.
How do you feel your dad does at balancing all he has to do in his life?
I feel like he does the best that he can. I think he does a really good job...it's not like he's not a busy guy. If anything he should give more focus to his dreams and his racing but it's hard to do that because he has a lot of other stuff going on. He seems to be a pretty balanced guy.
What is one thing you have learned through this journey of supporting your dad in the racing world?
On a serious side, I don't really know all the details, but I've learned that on the business side there is a lot that goes into it in terms of sponsorship and meetings they have to go to. There is so much more to the sport than just getting in a car and racing it.
What is your advice to anyone who wants to live their dream?
Just go for it! Following your dreams can't have any negative results unless you are like robbing a bank or something.
There is so much that goes into it and a whole support team that you need if you are going to do well at your dreams! So to sum it up...go for it! And don't be afraid to ask for help!
As for me, I'm just here to drink the champagne!
Have a blessed week and 4th of July from the Fastlife family!
